My visit to the Valley of Fire State Park in 2003 was full of wonder. The little Canon PowerShot G2 had surprising ability to capture the colors and details of the stunning scenery, though I admit my composition was fairly flat. That's a characteristic I can blame partly on my lack of experience with landscapes, and partly on my rush through the 115-degree heat. In any case, I enjoyed the view. :-)
These opposing formations are in Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada. The viewpoint is at 36°27'8.35"N by 114°30'50.79"W, about 1.5 miles north of the Visitor Center, and about 0.7 miles west of the Fire Canyon viewpoint. The original frames were captured with a Canon PowerShot G2 and stitched with Panorama Factory. The resulting file was 5457x1636, upsized to 300dpi, and printed to 40x12.
